Warranty and Return Policy on Custom Work and Custom Ordered Fabrics:
All re-upholstery and sewing work undertaken by Studio 1867 by it’s nature is CUSTOM. We must take apart and pattern new covers from the old, as we have no templates to reference. As such there is no project delivered to us which can be returned to you in it’s original state once the process is begun, unless agreed to in advance.
Under no circumstances shall Studio 1867 guarantee ANY work which is done with Customer Supplied Fabrics or materials. Any assessment of appropriate use is up to you. If you ask us to work with your fabric or other materials you accept ALL responsibility for the end result.
Within our process, we provide you with a written estimate outlining the work we are agreeing to as well as the fabric details of your choice. Once a deposit is paid for the agreed upon work, it is completely non-refundable if fabrics or materials have been ordered or work has begun on the project. Should there be any disagreement as to either the work commenced, either complete or incomplete, or the fabric used, the estimate and or any further written communications shall form the agreed upon contract for reference. Any refund of deposits paid, shall be solely at the discretion of Studio 1867 and shall be limited to the portion of deposit not committed to actual materials and work in process. Fabric selection, fabric ordering, patterning, pickup and shipping in, all form part of the work in progress.
Whereas Studio 1867 shall make every effort to fulfill the written contracts made in the process of agreeing to custom work – and every effort shall be made to correct any deviations from this, it is not always possible to know every detail in advance on work undertaken within the furniture pieces or with fabrics which have been chosen.
Fabrics we sell are warrantied by the manufacturers against defects only – and only when noted prior to cutting. After the fact – premature wear issues are assessed on a one by one basis to determine if the fabric was applied in the recommended way and for it’s intended use. Real leather by it’s nature always has some markings, and is not returnable for those issues. On leather we do our best to cut around anything significant or place them in hidden areas on your piece.
All Custom Built Products are guaranteed to be free from defects in workmanship or material under normal use for a period of 90 days from date of purchase. If any item is claimed to be defective within this time frame, we will repair or replace the product or component if it is determined that the defect existed at the time of manufacture or developed under normal use without cost. If any item is claimed to be defective beyond this time frame within the first year after delivery, all efforts shall be made to repair the product or component. Pickup and delivery costs may apply and other repair costs may be incurred if the defects are determined not to be caused by faulty production or materials.
Custom work is a collaboration between you the client and we the makers. It is always our desire to see you satisfied with the end result of that collaboration, but we also understand that may not always be completely possible.
No returns or exchanges will be accepted if merchandise was custom produced, custom sewn, including custom sized, custom coloured, custom printed or custom built. We shall endeavor to make good on work we have contracted to, but are under no obligation to provide you with alternate product if you are unsatisfied with the end result.
By paying our deposit, you are entering into a contract with us for CUSTOM non-refundable work.
